Teaching Career Ed through Math
Maximizing In School Time to expose Kids to Jobs
I have had a rough week so deviating from the content calendar a bit and pulling from my archives.
I made this two years ago because I was so sick of seeing math curriculum asking students to count paper clips and give twice as many to friends (who does that?) or buying 15 watermelons costing .25 cents each (in what world ?) We could be using daily core subjects to teach career exposure instead.
Maybe this would have been more well received if I chose a more exciting topic but I thought it was cool. My daughter and I did topiary math when we went to the zoo when she was in first grade very informally and it was super fun and introduced her to the people who make all these cool decorations. Here is the concept of how we can be using core subjects to teach careers.
