Jobs with Children

Pediatricians and Teachers are not the only jobs you can have working with kids but are what most people think of first

Yes it is true, not all jobs working with kids pay well, but that does not mean just because you like kids you should be a pediatrician. When I work with students who choose pediatrics because they love kids and want to help people but don’t like science, I think they may have watched the Barbie Commercial in early 2000s about Barbie Pediatrician.

In the commercial it says something like…..

“Babies love walls that are pink, Barbie is busier than you think, rock to sleep and Wahhhh you too can be a baby doctor”.

People who paint walls pink and rock babies to sleep are parents, not pediatricians. I won’t get started on what it said Barbie Teacher does…another day.

Being a Pediatrician means you probably don’t have time to decorate your office and sit and rock the baby but there are soooo many other cool jobs related to working with kids. Some pay really well others, meh, but are super rewarding. This is part of a growing resource I will add to to help teens explore what they don’t know exist.
